[origin: EP0811573A2] A thread supply unit (F) has a stationary storage drum (4) and at least one opto-electronic thread sensor (S) which comprises: at least one reflector (RF) fixed, with an exposed boundary area (19), in the drum surface (20) by a holder (H) and; an optical transmitter-receiver arrangement (7) located above the drum and directed at the reflector. The reflector with its bounding surface (19) can be set, from outside the drum, to two different levels (I, II) relative to the drum surface.
