[origin: EP0811957A2] The method involves using a data card (2) containing a memory (9). Information for identification and relating to the state of a measurement device for the goods are written into the memory and are transported in the card to a sales device (3) and transferred to a memory (30) in the sales device. A number of value units corresp. to an amount of money paid and command words are written into the data card's memory by the sales device. The new information is transported to the measurement device by the data card. A throughput of goods (5) from the measurement device (1) is enabled according to the number of new value units.
