[origin: DE19506597A1] Bristled articles comprise a rubber-elastic carrier having at least one recess accommodating a cluster of bristles which comprises at its fastening-side end a thickened portion which connects the bristles and whose cross-section is larger than that of the cluster and larger than the narrowest cross-section of the recess. The resilience of the carrier material is set as a function of the ratio of the cross-sections of the recess and thickened portion such that the cluster of bristles can be driven into the recess by a force acting on the thickened portion and, when the cluster of bristles has been driven in, the thickened portion is held in an interlocking manner as a result of resilient recovery of the bristle material. The length of the bristle cluster located in the carrier is tightly embraced thereby.
