[origin: DE19624902C1] The cleaner has an endless belt (7), into which bristles (11) are set, and which runs around pulleys, and through a guide (8) with a C-section slot which encloses both edges of the belt. For part of its length (9), one or both sides of the belt are cut back so that the belt is narrower than the width (10) between the lips of the guide. One end of the guide is hinged or flexible and can be moved to enable the narrow section of the belt to pass between the lips of the C-section slot, so engaging, or disengaging, the belt from the guide. A smooth transition is provided between at the changes in section of the belt. The movable end of the guide is near to a pulley, and is moved by mechanical means. Flat, V-section or toothed belts can be used.
