[origin: EP0813963A1] The offset printing device has a plate cylinder (2) carrying a dry flat printing plate. The inking unit (5) includes at least one ink applying roll (4.1-4.4) in friction contact with the plate cylinder. These can be driven by at least one positively driven inking roll (3). The circumferential speed of the inking cylinder differs from that of the plate cylinder. The first and second ink applying rolls (4.1, 4.2) in the turning direction of the plate cylinder may turn together at a synchronous circumferential speed relative to that of the plate cylinder, but different from that of the inking roll.
