[origin: EP0814028A1] Cover (1) for sealing a container which is bounded at the top side by an outward bent top edge (22), said cover being provided along the periphery with a downward opening groove (4) which encloses the top edge and is bounded by an outside wall (5), an inside wall (6), and a top wall (7) connecting said walls, in which the width of the groove at the position of the top wall is less than the deflection (27) of the top edge of the container, and the surface of the groove walls which adjoins the groove is made of a layer of elastic material. <IMAGE>
