A gas detector for safety applications may be operated from the mains or from a rechargeable battery. It consists of three fully-independent sensors positioned alongside one another of which one (10/1) monitors the oxygen component in the air within the room, one (10/2) detects methane or propane and the third (10/3) detects carbon monoxide. An acoustic or optical alarm signal is given if the oxygen concentration falls below 20.9%, if the methane or propane content is higher than 0.5% to 1.0% or if the carbon monoxide content present exceeds 100 ppm. Following an alarm signal, the detector system transmits a radio signal to switch off the current supply at a mains switch (12) and/or to close a magnetic valve (16), blocking the further supply of gas in a feed-pipe (14).

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Sicherheitsvorrichtung mit mindestens einem in einem zu überwachenden Raum angeordneten Gassensor, der beim Auftreten von Brenngas im Raum die Unterbindung der Zufuhr des Brenngases und der Stromversorgung für einen zu versorgenden Komplex veranlaßt, wobei der Gassensorbetrieb bei Stromausfall von einer elektrischen Batterie aufrechterhalten wird und wobei dem Gassensor (10/2) zwei weitere Sensoren örtlich beigeordnet sind, von denen der eine (10/1) den Sauerstoffanteil und der andere (10/3) den Kohlenmonoxidanteil der Raumluft feststellt. <IMAGE>
