Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19521585A1] The invention concerns an appliance for plucking hairs out of human skin (21), the appliance comprising a housing for accommodating a motor which houses a drive for at least one clamping device by means of which hairs can be plucked out of a user. The device further comprises means for reducing the sensation of pain whilst the hairs are being removed. These means comprise at least one element (16) which emits a one-off pulse to the skin (21) immediately before each hair is plucked out. This pulse causes the user pain which is less unpleasant than the sharp pain felt when a hair is removed and overlays this sharp pain. Consequently, at least subjectively, the user feels less pain when the hairs are plucked out.
