[origin: EP0816030A2] The milling head (1) has two flat sides (8,9) and a peripheral one (10) of a shape matching that of the profile to be milled. Cutter-blade supports (3) fixed to the head have edges at intervals in the radial direction. Where the rake angle is positive, the outer radial portions of the supports trail the inner ones when seen in the direction of rotation. Where it is negative the opposite is the case, so that the rake angle is kept within predetermined limits. The cutting edges can be inclined to the rotation axis (6) of the milling head. Each cutter can comprise three segments in a stepped pattern and parallel to each other.
