[origin: EP0816105A2] The printer has a number of keys for entering data defining a label image to be printed on an image receiving medium, and a display area for showing the information relating to the label image. It also includes a printer unit, and its associated controller, and has an addressing device for addressing the display area. This area has two display zones, each of which is selectively addressable to show the information relating to the label image. The first one of the zones shows information responsive to actuation of the keys. The second zone is addressable to show pre-stored data relating to information responsive to actuation of entry keys, to assist the used in defining the label. As the user is only able to address one of the zones, a region of display is left free, so that information may be shown in the second zone. This may be messages for user, or information regarding options available to user. The two display zones makes it easy for the user to distinguish between label image, and pre-stored data.
