A press arrangement for treating a web (1) of material (especially paper) has a press element (2) with a substantially smooth surface (10) and an opposing element (4) which, together with the first, forms a press nip (3). The product web (1) passes through the press nip together with a felt (5) which is located between the web and the opposing press element (4). In order to assist the separation of the web from the first press element (2) at the exit from the press nip, grooves or holes are formed in the surface of the first press element. The grooves or holes close in the press nip as a result of the press pressure to form a flat surface, and open again at the exit from the press nip.

Dargestellt und beschrieben ist eine Preßvorrichtung zur Behandlung einer Materialbahn, insbesondere einer Papierbahn, mit einem eine im wesentlichen glatte Preßfläche aufweisenden Preßelement und einem mit dem Preßelement zur Bildung eines Preßspalts zusammenwirkenden Gegenelement, wobei die Materialbahn zusammen mit einem zwischen der Materialbahn und dem Gegenelement verlaufenden Filzband durch den Preßspalt geführt ist und nach dem Verlassen des Preßspalts von dem Preßelement getrennt wird. Um die Trennung der Materialbahn vom Preßelement, an dem sie anliegt, zu erleichtern und insbesondere die zwischen dem Preßelement und der Materialbahn wirksamen Adhäsionskräfte zu vermindern, sind in der Preßfläche Rillen und/oder Löcher ausgebildet, die sich im Preßspalt durch die Preßkräfte unter Bildung einer glatten Oberfläche schließen und nach dem Verlassen des Preßspalts wieder öffnen. <IMAGE>
