[origin: EP0816598A1] In a cylinder lock that can be operated with a normal key (C) and a master key (M), and can be disabled only with the master key (M), the master key (M) can move the plug (12) of the lock into a special disabled position which the normal key (C) cannot reach because a stop piece (27) is in its way; the same stop piece (27) prevents the normal key (C) from being fully inserted into the keyway (16) in the disabled position; so that it can pass the stop piece (27) both when being turned and when being inserted into the keyway (16), the master key (M) is provided with a cut (36). The advantage is that both the common and the master keys (C,M) are of the same length and turn in the same direction. Furthermore the lock is simple and reliable. <IMAGE>
