Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0816650A1] The silencer is formed from two outer half-shells (2,3) and two inner half-shells (4,5), in which an exhaust guide is stamped or moulded. An inlet and outlet for the exhaust is welded onto the edges of the half-shells. Both outer half-shells, and at least one of the inner half-shells, have a common folded edge (9). The edges (10,11) of both inner half-shells may be included directly in a folded edge which has a single stage of folding, or in the first stage of a two-stage fold. Alternatively, only one of the inner half-shells may be bent in order to be included directly in a single-stage fold, while the edge of the other half-shell is clamped inside the fold.
