[origin: EP0817151A1] The warning device uses a radio link between a roadside device (CO) and an on board device (N) within each individual vehicle, which may also be used to transmit a congestion warning signal (M1) to the roadside device. The latter stores the coordinates of the congestion point for transmitting a secondary warning signal (M2) containing these coordinates to vehicles within the surrounding area. The received congestion point coordinates are checked with the vehicle coordinates to provide a warning signal for the driver as the congestion point is approached.
