[origin: DE19646051A1] The contestant logging method has a control point code and a clock signal transmitted magnetically to a data carrier (1) carried by the contestant, via a base station at each control point. The control point codes and the corresponding clock signals are recorded in a read-only memory. The data carrier may be incorporated in a device used by the contestant, e.g. a compass.
