Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9631350A1] The invention concerns a wiper for use in particular in screen printing, the wiper and screen being disposed so that they can be moved relative to each other and the wiper being acted on by pressure so that it lies against the screen during the printing process. The wiper is made up of at least one highly flexible part (1), with at least one wiping edge (4, 5) which lies against the screen, and an only slightly flexible part (2) on which the highly flexible part (1) is mounted and which is fitted on a holder. The invention calls for the highly flexible part (1) and the only slightly flexible part (2) of the wiper to be made of co-extruded plastic materials, the highly flexible part (1) being held to the slightly flexible part (2) by virtue of the forces acting between the two parts during the co-extrusion process, preferably to give physically interlocking parts, in such a way that the two parts will not separate under the conditions of the printing process. The wiper thus produced gives greater homogeneity, both over the area covered and from batch to batch, than do prior art wipers, thus enabling an extremely uniform printing image to be produced. In addition, less work is necessary to fashion the edge of the blade and the reproducibility of the quality of the printing image is significantly improved.
