[origin: EP0819416A2] The lifting and lowering device has a movable carrier frame (1) supporting a relatively rotatable vertical mast (6) with an attached pivoted beam (7), having a holder (9) at its free end for a seat or retaining belt. The beam is moved up and down via an electromechanically- or mechanically-operated spindle or piston system (11), acting between the mast and the beam. The inclination of the mast may be adjustable for maintaining stability and/or the beam height may be adjusted relative to the mast.
