Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0819614A1] The container opener is made from moulded plastics and fitted into the top wall of a brick-type container. The container consists of a peripheral element (5) which surrounds an initially sealed opening portion (1). A hinged cap (6) fits over it to close the container between pourings. The opening portion is opened by a lever in two sections (10,11) which pivot about a transverse axis (9) to break open the seal along scored lines. The lever is made in two sections divided by a transverse groove adjacent to its axis. A first section (10) is pressed downwards to break the seal and form a pouring hole when the second section (11) is lifted. Once the pouring hole has been made the second section can be returned to its original position in line with the peripheral element by bending along the line of the groove, leaving the hole open. The opener, including the peripheral element, lever and cap, is moulded in one piece.
