[origin: DE19513990A1] The invention concerns novel benzimidazole derivatives of formula (I), in which R<2> stands for optionally substituted heterocyclyl and Y stands for a direct bond, -CH2-, -CH2-CH2-, -CO-, -SO2-, -CO-O- or -SO-O-, in the case of the last two groups mentioned the carbon atom or the sulphur atom being bonded to the nitrogen atom of the imidazole ring. The invention further concerns a process for preparing these substances and their use as microbicides for protecting plants and material.
