[origin: EP0820717A2] The vacuum cleaner suction head has a transverse suction opening (2) facing the surface to be cleaned, with brush rails (3) positioned in front of and behind it, secured to a carrier plate (4). The bristles of the brush rails are embedded in a plastics rail spine (6) which acts as a stiffening edge for the thermoplastics carrier plate, the rail spine having a height in the bristle direction which is relatively large compared to the thickness of the carrier plate.
