Abstract (en)

A package incorporating an electromagnetic marker which can be identified by a detector has the marker in the form of a metal wire (2) between 30 and 100 mm long and 25 microns to 2 mm thick, embedded in the expanded polystyrene wall of the package (1). The wire marker can be enclosed in a protective sleeve which allows the contents of the package to be heated in a microwave oven. Preferably the marker is positioned in a mould before injecting the material which forms the package, using a support which is withdrawn during the moulding process. The support can be, e.g., in the form of hollow needles which are withdrawn from the mould core once the marker is held by the moulded material.
