Cast iron alloy has a perlite base structure with spherical or vermicular graphite deposits and contains (in wt.%): 2.5-4.0C, 1.5-4.0 Si, 0.2-2.0 Mn, max. 0.35 P, max. 0.035 S, max. 3.0 Cr, max. 1.5 V, max. 2.5 Mo, max. 0.2 Ni, 1.0-3.5 Cu, 0.02-2.5 Al, 0.005-0.04 Mg, and a balance of Fe.

Eine Gußeisenlegierung mit hohen Festigkeitswerten und hoher Warmfestigkeit für die Herstellung von vor allem Kolbenringen von Verbrennungskraftmaschinen besitzt eine überwiegend perlitische Grundstruktur mit kugelgraphitischen oder vermicularen Graphitausscheidungen und besteht aus 2,5 - 4,0 Gewichtsprozent Kohlenstoff, 1,5 - 4,0 Gewichtsprozent Silizium, 0,2 - 2,0 Gewichtsprozent Mangan, max. 0,35 Gewichtsprozent Phosphor, max. 0,03 Gewichtsprozent Schwefel, max. 3,0 Gewichtsprozent Chrom, max. 1,5 Gewichtsprozent Vanadium, max. 2,5 Gewichtsprozent Molybdän, max. 0,2 Gewichtsprozent Nickel, 1,0 - 3,5 Gewichtsprozent Kupfer, 0,02 - 2,5 Gewichtsprozent Aluminium, 0,005 - 0,04 Gewichtsprozent Magnesium und Eisen als Rest. Die Legierung kann zur Verbesserung ihrer Bearbeitbarkeit einer Glühbehandlung bis zu 750 °C unterzogen werden und die Gußstücke können zur Erhöhung ihrer Verschleißfestigkeit nach einem der üblichen Verfahren nitriert sein.
