[origin: EP0821090A2] A method of producing seamless sheet knits which are bound at the edges in open or closed fashion on a double-bed flat knitting machine entails forming a sheet knit on each of opposing needle regions of the two beds (V, H) with threads from separate thread guides (FV, VH). The lateral edges of the knits, on one or both sides, are each joined together before knitting a new row of stitches by criss-crossing the threads from the guides (VH, VF) which form at least the edge stitches of both sheet knits. Also claimed is the method as applied to an entire seamless piece of clothing where regions of pieces like bands, sleeves, front and back parts up to the arm cut-out, which are connected at the edges, are knitted using one of the claimed methods.
