[origin: DE19630213C1] The method involves regulating the ignition timing and air mass flow or the fuel injection commencement and duration. From a provided engine theoretical torque (Msoll) a dynamic theoretical torque portion (Md) is calculated. The dynamic theoretical torque portion can be related for a corresponding ignition timing displacement (dZ) or injection commencement displacement. The remaining, quasi-static theoretical torque portion is adjusted by corresponding adjustment of the air mass flow or the injection duration. The dynamic theoretical torque portion is calculated through a high pass filtration of the engine theoretical torque with an engine operating point-dependent predetermined fade time constant.
