Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0821384A2] A process for the production of a phosphor coating on a cathode ray tube, in which the back of the screen is coated with a conductive electrode layer (1), layer (1) is treated with a solution, suspension and/or dispersion (A) containing the phosphor or a precursor thereof plus an electrolyte, an electric field is applied between (1) and solution (A), the phosphor is deposited on (1) by electrophoresis, and layer (1) is then removed leaving the phosphor on the back of the screen. The electrode material for layer (1) consists of electrically conductive polymers and/or oligomers and/or monomers thereof ("polymers I") with vaporisation temperatures below the decomposition temperature of the phosphor layer (2), and these polymers (I) are removed by evaporation.
