[origin: EP0821518A2] The device has a depositing device with a locking device (30), preventing unauthorised access and containing the packet. A key associated with the recipient can unlock the depositing device (20) to extract the packet, at least while there is a packet in the depositing device. Identification can be by chip card, magnetic card, bar code or transponder. An acknowledgment device (24) performs an acknowledgment regarding the deposition of a packet, and/or automatically performs an acknowledgment regarding the opening of the deposition device to enable extraction of the packet.
