[origin: EP0822297A2] A cover for an underground chamber (1) containing a joint or meter for water or gas pipes or electrical cables consists of a lid (6) and a supporting frame (5). The frame and/or the lid is made from a composition material based on a thermosetting resin with reinforcing fibres, such as polyester resin and glass fibres. The frame is moulded in two half-shells (54,55) which are joined rigidly together, each having a truncated conical lower section (51) and an upper collar (52) with an L-shaped cross-section forming a supporting surface for the lid. The edges of the two half-shells which are joined together can have interlocking projections and recesses, and their outer surfaces can have radial ribs to engage with the solid material surrounding the frame.
