[origin: WO9635527A1] A device for expanding a pipe (70) comprises a probe (2) insertable into the pipe (70) and fitted with an elastic expanding sleeve (4) to at least part of the inner surface of which can be applied a pressure medium. According to the invention, the expanding sleeve (4) is fitted with a supporting ring (50) at its outer periphery which is supported on a shoulder (51a, b) of the probe (2) surrounding the expanding sleeve (4) and consists of at least two partial segments (80) movable in relation to each other. This arrangement ensures that the supporting ring (50) can reversibly follow the changes in diameter occurring during the expansion of the expanding sleeve (4), thus preventing the expending sleeve (4) from being squeezed into a gap(s) between the pipe (70) and the probe (2).
