Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19517298C1] A device with a pneumatic transport system for applying a discontinuous wet treatment, for example dyeing, should also be suitable for processes that do not use a treatment bath. In another known device, the treatment bath pipe is connected to an additional air pipe with a heat exchanger and a fan for drying purposes. Since in this device the web of material is conveyed over a perforated drum and is therefore smoothed down, it is not particularly suitable for tumbling knitted articles. The above-said device should be redesigned as simply as possible so that it may also be used for dry processes such as tumbling. The disclosed device has an air circulating system and a turbomachine (19) with a large range of speeds of rotation, which is connected both to the treatment bath circulating system and to the air circulating system. This simple device allows both a wet treatment and a dry treatment, i.e. a treatment during which air rather than a treatment bath is applied to the articles. The device is particularly suitable for tumbling knitted fabrics.
