Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0824940A2] A closure flap (18) made of sprung steel sheet remains open when not in use and is parallel to the axis of a fireproof-lined pipe. A release (22) is triggered off at a pre-set higher temperature lower than the temperature at which the fireproof lining foams (14,15). The closure flap automatically moves into a position closing the pipe when released. The top part (18a) of the closure flap is held fast, while the bottom end of the closure flap is joined to a rigid part of the pipe by means of a soldered link which when it melts, moves the closure flap into a closed position. The top part of the closure flap is fixed by fixtures (19) such as screws to a bracket (20,20a).
