The connecting stay in the area of the water jacket is provided with ribs (13,16) between the cylinder tube and the cylinder block housing, the height of which is less than 0.5 times the height of the cooling water jacket. In the area of the oil jacket, the connecting stay may also be provided with ribs between the cylinder tube and the cylinder block housing, the height of which is smaller than 0.5 times the height of the oil jacket. All the ribs are at least partly triangular and increase from the cylinder tube to the cylinder block housing.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Zylinderblock (1) einer Brennkraftmaschine in open-deck Bauweise bei dem der Kühlwassermantel (7) und der Ölmantel zwischen Zylinderrohr (3,4,5) und Zylinderblockgehäuse (2) durch einen Verbindungssteg (6) voneinander getrennt sind. Dieser Verbindungssteg (6) verbindet die jeweiligen Zylinderrohre (3,4,5) mit dem Zylinderblockgehäuse (2). Um die Zylinderrohrverzüge im verspannten Zustand des Zylinderblockes (1) zu verringern wird vorgeschlagen, zumindest im Wassermantel (7) oder im Ölmantel (8) Rippen (13) vorzusehen, die vom Verbindungssteg ausgehen und die Anbindung der Zylinderrohre (3,4,5) an das Zylinderblockgehäuse (2) verbessern. Die Höhe dieser Rippen (13) ist deutlich geringer als die Höhe des Wassermantels (7) bzw. des Ölmantels (8), wodurch die Gewischtszunahme gering ist und die Anbindlungslängen an das Zylinderrohr (3,4,5) klein gehalten werden. <IMAGE>
