[origin: EP0826441A1] The jaw is for a press-tool forming a permanent cold joint between a fitting and a metal pipe, and comprises halves pivoting on bridge-pieces (6,7) at right angles to the lengthwise axis, interchangeable semicircular inserts (12) being secured in them. On each bridge-piece are one or more lugs (14) protruding into the insert areas and forming lateral holders for them. These free the inserts to allow insert interchange when the jaw is fully open. These lugs can be immediately adjacent to the outer surfaces of the jaw halves (2,3). The lugs can be symmetrical in relation to the lengthwise axis (8) of the jaw, while having a curved recess at the end towards the jaw mouth (11).
