[origin: EP0826787A2] A high strength light constructional steel has the composition (by wt.) more than 5 to 9 (preferably 7-9)% Al, less than 0.2% Si. 0.03-0.2% Mn, balance Fe and impurities, including NOTGREATER 1% total Cu + Mo + W + Co + Cr + Ni and up to 0.1% total Sc + Y + rare earths. The steel may also contain up to 0.1% C, up to 0.5% total Ti + Zr + Hf + V + Nb + Ta, up to 0.01% B and up to 0.1% P.
