[origin: EP0828272A2] The arc-extinguishing chamber of an electrical load isolating switch has a flat chamber Ä36Ü that has a hinged knife-blade Ä30Ü with a contact Ä38Ü at the tip that moves relative to a side extinguishing plate Ä42Ü. The plate is of extinguishing gas generating material and a small extinguishing channel is formed Ä34Ü. Plates Ä48Ü are set on to both sides.
