Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9638613A1] The device for holding a thread comprises at least one holder arrangement (40) consisting of two overlapping holders (41, 42) for the thread (20) and at least two insertion components (12) which are moved in relation to the holders in order to push a thread (20) running transversely to the direction of movement of the insertion components and transversely to the holders between said holders, the thread being held in its longitudinal direction and moved transversely thereto along the holders (41, 42). The thread is pretensioned longitudinally. When the thread is inserted into the holder arrangement (40) an insertion component (12) passes along each side of the holder arrangement so that the thread (20) is supported so as to remain tensioned. The thread holding device can be fitted in shed course looms in such a way that the insertion components are moved on a circular path, with the thread moving away from the centre of the circular path and releasing from the insertion components. Several threads (20) are thereby prepared at the same time by a plurality of successive insertion components (12) for threading into the holder and threaded in rapid succession.
