[origin: EP0829897A2] The electric fuse (1) has a substrate (3) of electrically insulating material. It also has at least two electric contacts (4) arranged at a distance from each other on the substrate (3). The fuse (1) also has a melt conductor (2). This electrically connects the contacts (4). An electrically insulating resin mass (7) is provided on the substrate (3). This covers the melt conductor (2) at least partly between the contacts (4). The substrate (3) is preferably a rectangular plate made of ceramic material. The resin mass (7) may be made of a paste which sets and which adheres to the substrate (3) after it has hardened. The resin mass may be porous and is preferably thermally stable. The contacts (4) may be formed by metallising opposing edges and/or sides of the substrate (3).
