Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0831291A1] Th hand grenade (1) has prefabricated shrapnel particles (3) embedded in plastic. The casing (2) is plastic surrounding the shrapnel, and also projecting back into the explosive charge (4). All this casing is one-piece; the internally-projection section accepting the detonator. Aluminium powder is included in the explosive charge (4) which is contained in a jacket (5) of highly ductile material, e.g. aluminium, copper or iron. The shrapnel comprises steel or heavy metal balls. The casing incorporates a welded assembly.
