[origin: DE19518900C1] The process for after-burning reaction gases which arise during decarbonisation of liq. steel in a reaction vessel under vacuum comprises bringing an air stream into the reaction vessel (10) via an opening (17) in the refractor lining, opposite to the direction of the flow of the process gas (15). Also claimed is an appts. for the process above, comprising a hot air generator which is connected to the reaction. Air is heated while passing through a filling of refractory heated spheres.
