Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9528543A1] A window casement hollow section, in particular made of plastics, is provided on its outer side with a glass pane holding groove (G), followed at the inner side of the section by a middle zone (M) that consists of an inner and an outer profiled strip (12 and 11) and of an intermediate cavity (14) that contains a metallic reinforcement section (13). The hollow section further contains a joint clearance (F) whose width (f) is determined by the width (s) of a lateral rabbet (S) that delimits it on one side, less the width (d) of its sealing edge (D) that overlaps with the corresponding window frame. In order to improve such a window casement hollow section so that it may be narrower than state-of-the-art window frame casement sections of a similar type, while being as stable or even more stable than such window frame casement sections, the middle area (M) of the hollow section is at the most twice as wide as its joint clearance (F).
