[origin: EP0835675A2] The binding plate (1) is hinged about a middle transverse axis (6) and the two sections are rigidly fixed to the ski for a certain distance each side of the hinge. The remaining length of each plate section has a spacing between its underside and the ski. this allows the ski to flex over ground profiles while retaining the rigidity with respect to lateral twisting. The open ended parts of the sections can have a U-profile open to the top surface of the ski and with an elastic filling between the sections and the ski. This provides a controlled flexing with damping. The plate is made of lightweight rigid material and is fitted to the ski with threaded fasteners.
