[origin: EP0835943A1] The lower bell for the CAS-OB Ä'Composition Adjustment by Sealed argon bubbling - Oxygen Blowing'Ü process in steel production plants incorporates a horizontal flange (10) for seating the upper bell, and a reinforcing structure attached to the flange and surrounded by refractive material. The reinforcing structure is made up of a number of vertical steel bars (12) which are uniformly distributed over (and attached to) the flange circumference, and are surrounded by refractive material (11). Alternatively, the reinforcing structure takes the form of a sheet-metal cylinder provided with a number of longitudinal slits with an essentially vertical orientation.
