An injector (9) for a heat engine (1) comprising a spray assembly (10) designed to be installed through a wall (3) of the engine delimiting a combustion chamber and provided with a movable needle (19), and a control assembly (11) provided with a solenoid valve (30) for controlling the needle (19); the control assembly (11) extends in a transverse direction with respect to the spray assembly (10) below a bottom wall (7) of the tappet housing (4) of the engine. <IMAGE>
