Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0836054A1] The regulator of a gas burner (3) has two parallel gas feeds (4,5). One feed (4) has a flow restriction (6) in series with an on/off solenoid valve (8) while the other feed (5) has a switching solenoid (7) in series with a buffer volume (9). The switching solenoid provides a variable mean flow by varying the switching frequency or by varying the spatial ratio of the on/off periods. The buffer volume is sufficiently large to even out the pressure variation from the switching valve. The flow restriction provides a between one sixth and one twentieth of the maximum flow through the switching valve ie. the fully open flow through the switching valve.
