[origin: DE19617573A1] The invention concerns a hand-operated orbital sander comprising a housing (12) and a tool holder (22) which holds a grinding tool (10) and is mounted via a rotary bearing (21) on a rotating eccentric pin (20) which projects out of the housing (12). In order to prevent the tool holder (22) from being entrained in rotation, an oscillating element (23) is provided with an inner ring (26), an outer ring (27) and a moulded part (28) of resilient material for interconnecting the two rings. The inner ring (26) is secured on the tool holder (22), coaxially to the rotary bearing (21), and the outer ring (27) is held in a rotationally rigid manner in the housing (22). The oscillating element (23) distributes the force symmetrically, enabling the twisting moment of the tool holder (22) with the grinding tool (10) to be adjusted as necessary via the hardness or thickness of the resilient moulded part (28).
