The rail vehicle has a body (2) which is bordered by a module which is made from self-supporting components. The floor (21), roof (22) and side faces (23,24) of the middle part (2M) of the rail vehicle body (2) are bordered by the module (3) which has a D-shaped cross-section. The boundary walls of the middle part have a laminar structure. They have external and internal bounding surfaces at a defined spacing from each other. The walls are made of a bonded fibre material. Between the outer and inner bounding surfaces there is a filling of plastics foam or a honeycomb of plastics, metal or paper. This filling is reinforced by additional metal inserts in the highly stressed connecting regions.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Schienenfahrzeug mit einem Wagenkasten (2). Der Mittelteil (2M) dieses Wagenkastens (2) wird durch einen oder mehrere Module (3, 33, 34, 37, 38, 39, 40) begrenzt. Die Begrenzungswände (21, 22, 23, 24) des Mittelteils (2M) weisen eine Schichtenstruktur auf. Sie haben äußere und innere Begrenzungsflächen (21A und 21B, 22A und 22B, 23A und 23B, 24A und 24B), die in einem definierten Abstand von einander angeordnet sind. Sie sind aus einem Faserverbundwerkstoff (25) in Form von Glas-, Kohle- oder Aramidfasern gefertigt, die in einen aushärtbaren Kunststoff eingebettet sind. Zwischen den äußeren und inneren Begrenzungsflächen (21A und 21B, 22A und 22B, 23A und 23B, 24A und 24B) ist eine Füllung (26) aus Kunststoffschaum, Waben aus Kunststoff, Metall oder Papier angeordnet. Diese Füllung (26) ist in stark beanspruchten Verbindungsbereichen (27) durch zusätzliche Einlagen (28) aus Metall verstärkt. <IMAGE>
