[origin: EP0837250A2] A pressure medium flows from a cylinder chamber of the ram cylinder, defined by a piston, in a controlled way to a cylinder connection so as to cause the piston to move slowly to its limit position. A check valve allows unhindered application of pressure from the cylinder connection for rapid movement of the piston from its end position. Throttle grooves (30) form a route for pressure medium between the cylinder chamber and the cylinder connection (19), and in addition, a throttle area (38) is also included. Preferably, the throttle area is a fixed diaphragm (40) located in a damping sleeve (23) which is mounted on the piston rod.
