Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0837297A2] A loading/unloading mechanism, designed to load a round (5) into the breech of a gun from a magazine and to unload and return it to the magazine, consists of a drive member (8) which travels in a direction in line with the axis of the gun barrel between rear and forward positions and is equipped with one or more pivoted claws (9). The mechanism incorporates a second axially-moving member (10) which opens the claws (9) radially when travelling in a forward direction relative to the first member and allows them to close when travelling in a rearward direction so that they grip the round (5) and are able to withdrawn it from the barrel for replacing in the magazine. The second member (10) is spring-loaded in an axial direction by lengthwise traction springs (16) which are connected at their rear ends to the member (10) and at their forward ends to pegs (20) connected to the first drive member (8).
