Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9702203A1] The invention relates to a method and arrangement in connection with an accumulator of a cable or the like, the accumulator being used to adjust the tension of the cable (3) during spooling, so that the cable (3) is made to pass around a movable wheel (2), which provides the cable (3) with the desired tension. In order to produce even tension, for example the acceleration and speed of the movable wheel (2) are measured first, the additional force resulting from the inertial mass of the movable wheel (2) at the acceleration measured is determined next, and the aforementioned additional force is added to the force applied by an actuator (4) of the movable wheel (2) on the movable wheel, or the aforementioned additional force is subtracted from the force applied by the actuator (4) of the movable wheel (2) on the movable wheel. During the measurement, the effect of the spring constant of the balancing spring (6) of the movable wheel and the effect of the position of the movable wheel (2) on the force produced by the spring can also be taken into account.
