[origin: EP0838616A2] For a contact-free scanning of the position of the piston a ring magnet (17) is provided on the piston (2). On at least one side of the ring magnet in addition to this and the sealing rings (15,16), the piston has a guide ring (18,19) of resistant material adjoining the inner wall of the cylinder to guide and centre same. The sealing rings can be provided on both ends and guide rings can be fitted on both sides of the ring magnet which is mounted between the sealing rings. At least one guide ring can be formed as an integral collar of the piston. The guide rings have a larger outer diameter than the ring magnet but smaller outer diameter than the sealing rings.
