[origin: WO9717478A1] The invention relates to a process for producing a non-stick coating on the surface of a relatively soft metal substrate such as a substrate of aluminium or aluminium alloy , magnesium or magnesium alloy and/or copper or copper alloy. The metal surface is roughed and then provided with a single-layer or multi-layer coating of a hard material such as a hard anodisation layer or a thermal sprayed layer and then provided with a single-layer or multi-layer non-stick coating, e.g. of fluorocarbon resin such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer (FEP) or tetrafluoroethylene-ethylene copolymer (ETFE). The purpose of the proposed process is in particular to coat the inside of a pan, the surface roughness of the metal surface and/or hard material layer being defined by the following parameters: Ra is between 8 and 30 microns, and or Rz is between 40 and 180 microns, and or Ry is between 50 and 250 microns, and or Pc (1,3) is between 20 and 45 1/cm, and/or tp [10 %] is between 1 and 3 % and or tp [20 %] is between 1 and 10 %.
